Unemployment hysteresis in Middle East and North Africa countries: panel SUR-based unit root test with a Fourier function

چکیده
Unemployment hysteresis of Middle East and North African (MENA) countries is investigated under a battery unit root testing frameworks in the extant literature, including recently proposed Panel SUR Dickey-Fuller-like test with Fourier Exponential Smooth Transition Regression (ESTR) nonlinearities. The function allows for smooth nonlinear breaks, while ESTR nonlinearity instantaneous breaks. two types make recent approach quite appealing. It has, however, been scarcely applied to empirically unemployment hypothesis. Although we find conflicting stances from ADF, FADF ADF-SB frameworks, evidence effect Lebanon consistent across all three tests. ADF tests confirmed hypothesis Kuwait Lebanon, FADF-SB rejected 19 MENA countries. results KSS FKSS consistently affirmed Oman Turkey, there are mixed Lebanon. SURADF SURKSS only supported same was Bahrain SURFADF SURFKSS frameworks. 12 (about 63.15% total number considered) economies.

Convergence of Real Per Capita GDP within East Asian and Middle East Countries: Panel Unit Root Evidence
This paper examines convergence of real GDP per capita in the selected East Asian countries and this relationship with selected Middle East countries during the period 1950-2009. The reason behind this refers to the fact that East Asia countries (including China, Hong Kong, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Japan and South Korea) have been involved in achieving success arising from regi...

The event has emerged as a clear threat to global health such that the World Health Organization (WHO) officially declared the outbreak of the disease a pandemic on March 11, 2020. The ...
متن کاملCrowding out (in) effect of FDI on domestic investment in the Middle East and North Africa countries
Theoretically and empirically, FDI may have positive (complementary) or negative (substitution) effect on the host country’s domestic investment. This study aims to examine the existence of crowding out (in) effect of FDI for MENA countries with high- and low- level income. Using the GMM, several regressions were estimated over the periods of 1981-2017 and 2001-2017. The immediate positive effe...
